MISSION - Feast of Christ the King 2025

“If you want GOD to hear your prayers, hear the voice of the poor. If you wish GOD to anticipate your wants, provide those of the needy without waiting for them to ask you. Especially anticipate the needs of those who are ashamed to beg. To make them ask for alms is to make them buy it.”

~ Saint Thomas of Villanova (1488-1555)

This year’s Feast of Christ the King focuses on what lies at the very heart of our Church’s mission, bringing hope and helping those most in need to see a brighter tomorrow.

Across our Archdiocese, the mission of the Church continues to unfold quietly through lives touched and communities transformed. Families once struggling to stay afloat now find strength through guidance and support programmes. Parents learn to nurture faith at home, rediscovering hope in the simple rhythm of prayer, conversation, and care.

In our schools and youth ministries, young people are being formed not only in knowledge but in compassion. Through mentorship, retreats, and the unwavering dedication of teachers and youth leaders, they are learning that faith is not only something to be spoken, but something to be lived, in kindness, integrity, and service to others.

Through outreach and social justice initiatives, parishes extend helping hands to those most in need — feeding the hungry, sheltering the displaced, and bringing comfort to those who feel forgotten. Together, these efforts build communities rooted in love and faith, where the Gospel becomes a living reality.

This year, as we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, we are reminded that every act of giving strengthens this mission. When we give from our hearts, we help to build communities of hope, foster families of faith, and shape a Church that continues to serve with compassion and courage.

We can all recall times when someone lent us a helping hand and helped rescued us from peril. These are moments when God came to our aid, sending kind strangers to the right place, at the right time, solely for our benefit.

When God calls you, will you hear, and will you act?
