MISSION - Feast of Christ the King 2022

“If you want GOD to hear your prayers, hear the voice of the poor. If you wish GOD to anticipate your wants, provide those of the needy without waiting for them to ask you. Especially anticipate the needs of those who are ashamed to beg. To make them ask for alms is to make them buy it.”

~ Saint Thomas of Villanova (1488-1555)

For this year’s Feast of Christ the King, we’ve decided to focus in on what lies at the heart of the mission of the church: to help those most in need to see a better tomorrow.

The underprivileged and the poor walk among us, attend schools with our children, work alongside us in the office, and worship with us in the pews of our church. And yet, most of these individuals and families remain unknown, unseen, and suffer in silence. Their invisibility to us does not diminish their presence. These past two plus years have driven more families to the brink, with many thrown overboard, with no immediate recovery in sight.

We, as disciples of Christ must listen to the cries of the poor, and do everything we can to take care of our fellow neighbors. The RC Archdiocese of Port-of-Spain - through generous donations from citizens - has always and continues to reach out to those in need and ensure that people gain access to the resources they need to provide for themselves and their families.

For this year’s Feast of Christ the King, we encourage all members of the church to embody the meaning behind MISSION - to give what you have to help those who are without, to help those most in need to see a better tomorrow.

We can all recall times when someone lent us a helping hand and helped rescued us from peril. These are moments when God came to our aid, sending kind strangers to the right place, at the right time, solely for our benefit.

When God calls you, will you hear, and will you act?
