Supporting the Holy Father’s Mission of Charity

Each year, Catholics around the world are invited to take part in the Peter’s Pence Collection which is taken up on the last weekend of June. This is a tangible expression of our unity with the Holy Father and our shared responsibility to care for those in need.

Peter’s Pence is not simply a collection; it is a global act of solidarity. Through it, the faithful support the charitable works of the Pope, enabling him to respond to situations of hardship, crisis, and vulnerability across the world.

From providing relief in the aftermath of natural disasters, to supporting communities affected by poverty, conflict, or displacement, the Holy Father’s outreach extends to places and people that are often beyond our immediate reach. Through Peter’s Pence, our local contribution becomes part of that wider mission.

It is important to understand that Peter’s Pence serves two key purposes. Firstly, it supports the charitable initiatives of the Pope in responding directly to those who are suffering and in need. Secondly, it assists the Holy See in carrying out its broader mission, ensuring that the work of the universal Church continues effectively.

In a world where many continue to face uncertainty and hardship, the need for this support remains significant. The Holy Father often acts swiftly and quietly, offering assistance where it is most needed, without distinction of nationality, religion, or background. This is the Church’s mission in action, to serve all with compassion and dignity.

For us, participation in Peter’s Pence is both a spiritual and practical response. It is a reminder that the Church is not limited by geography. We are part of a global community of faith, united in our commitment to care for one another.

The Peter’s Pence Collection will take place across the Archdiocese of Port of Spain on the weekend of June 27th & 28th 2026. Parishioners are invited to give generously as they are able, knowing that their contribution will help extend the reach of the Church’s care to those who need it most.

In giving to Peter’s Pence, we stand with the Holy Father. We take part in a mission that goes beyond our borders and touches lives around the world.
